Spider Chrysanthemum, Pitcher plant, Cotinus, Beetleweed & Bromeliad foliage Making Workshop – 31 March-3 April – Harbury


Brief Description:
This four day workshop will enable you to make a spider Chrysanthemum, beetleweed & cotinus, pitcher plant & bromeliad foliage out of flower paste which you will tape into a spray. This will be suitable to adorn any celebration cake or display in a vase.
Everything is explained to you step by step so there will be time to make notes and ask questions

This class has a maximum of 6 students
Duration: 4 days

Time: From 10.00 am to 5.00 pm

Start Date: 20th July 2020
End Date: 23rd July 2020

Level of difficulty:

Strong Intermediate/Advanced. Students will be required to have a good understanding of how to wire petals & leaves and use cutters and veiner’s prior to attending the workshop. Students maybe required to do some homework.

Skills you will learn:

  • How to make a spider Chrysanthemum, Pitcher plant, Cotinus, Beetleweed, & Bromeliad foliage.
  • How to make, vein and shape the petals & leaves
  • How to dust & Colour your creations to produce the right shading for them to look realistic
  • How to put the flowers and foliage together to produce a spray

Refreshments will be provided, along with the materials. Students will need to bring a packed lunch. Students will also need to bring their own tools & equipment. A list is provided below.

  • Hydrangea Petal Veiner (DPM)
  • Ceramic Silk Veining Tool  (HP) or (Jem)
  • Ball Tool dog bone (PME)
  • Beetleweed leaf cutter set (Aldaval) Optional – (templates on the day)
  • Very large Nasturtium leaf veiner (SK-GI)
  • Flat dusting brushes & a fine paintbrush
  • Foam Pad
  • Medium Rose Petal Cutters (TT2 276-280)
  • Rose Leaf Veiner (Culpitt)
  • Tulip Leaf Veiner (SKGI)
  • A block of oasis or styrofoam covered in cling film
